I'm a big fan of pickles and Cole slaw! And although this was not the main attraction of this meal tonight, I thought the vibrant colors of the dill pickles right beside the crispy fresh Cole slaw would show how much heart was put into this home cooking, Actually, the potato salad looks amazing too! Yesterday, the guests ate hot pulled pork sandwiches with delicious sides of a pickle, Cole slaw, potato salad and dipping sauce, all of course with a dessert treat on the side. Certainly, the dinner could have been better by sitting down in community together with others, but during this time of COVID-19, getting warm healthy meals in take out boxes handed out with a smile is the next best thing. Our volunteers go out of their way to prepare hygiene kits for the guests too. The picture below shows the table set up for giving out personal hygiene amenities to the people who came to the church yesterday. It was another successful dinner made through the efforts of our wonderful volunteers!

We had a wonderful turn out yet again at the church this past Sunday. The food was as healthy as ever. Our volunteers always ohhh and ahhh me with the great recipes they come up with every week. Yesterday was chicken pesto penne pasta, a small dinner salad, mixed vegetables with broccoli, carrots and cauliflower, a dinner roll, an amazing dessert called Fluff (made with whipped cream, jello, vegan marshmallows made with fresh blueberries, raspberries and pineapples) with a homemade snickerdoodle on the side and of course Jo Ann's famous cookies (this week chocolate cookies). This was all, not to mention, all the other goodies in a hygiene kit complete with toothpaste, a razor, toothbrush and lotion. If you happen to stumble upon any trial size products that can help the homeless, we would be happy to add them to the hygiene kits that are dispersed every Sunday! Thank you to our devoted team who show up each Sunday to make this happen. We love your cooking and your generosity to the community! Here is one of our wonderful chefs who comes each and every Sunday to make delicious food for our guests =) May 3rd wasn't exactly Cinco de Mayo, but it was close enough to merit the food theme around Mexican food. Yum! Enchiladas, rice, beans, tortilla chips and of course something sweet for desert. Jo makes some of the best cookies in town, so we are always happy to receive her tasty treats on Sundays! Thank you to all the chefs, volunteers, goodie bag makers and guests, who make these special dinners possible!
